To use the XTR Crank Socket, you'll need to follow a few simple steps. Here's a quick rundown of the process:

  1. Start by removing the the drive side crankarm
  2. Locate the Shimano direct-mount chainring lockring, which is the circular piece that sits on the crankset.
  3. Insert the XTR Crank Socket over the crank spindle onto the lockring, making sure that it fits snugly and securely.
  4. Using a wrench or ratchet with crow foot, turn the XTR Crank Socket counterclockwise to loosen the lockring.
  5. Once the lockring is loose, you can remove it by hand.
  6. To install a new lockring, simply reverse the process, using the XTR Crank Socket to tighten it back onto the crankset per Shimano® torque specifications.
