Wheels Manufacturing and Rise Bikes Collaborate on Custom Thru-Axle for the new Grizzly Fat Bike
Custom Thru-Axle Collaboration: Wheels Manufacturing × Rise Bikes
Wheels Manufacturing has been at the forefront of precision bicycle components for 35+ years. Our latest partnership with Colorado builder Rise Bikes delivered a purpose-built custom thru-axle for their new Grizzly Fat Bike. The axle features a conical Syntace-style head and threads compatible with SRAM’s Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) for maximum stiffness, alignment, and durability in demanding terrain.
Rise’s titanium Grizzly showcases advanced 3D-printed elements—including the head tube, dropouts, and chainstay yoke—paired with our CNC-machined aluminum axle for precise clamping and repeatable alignment. Fast prototyping and tight tolerances are what let us deliver OEM-grade solutions quickly for builders who won’t compromise.
The custom Grizzly Fat Bike is available to order now from the Rise Bikes website. We’re proud to support innovators pushing titanium and additive manufacturing forward—and we’ll keep building the components that help their designs perform at the highest level.

Installation Guide
Step 1: Get Your Tools Ready
Gather a 5 mm hex wrench, 6 mm hex wrench, and a torque wrench.
Step 2: Remove the Old Bolts
Using the correct hex size for your current hardware, turn counter-clockwise to remove. Keep track of any washers.
Step 3: Clean the Chainring
Wipe mating surfaces with isopropyl alcohol or degreaser to remove grime that could cause creaks or loosening.
Step 4: Install the New Bolts
Lightly grease the threads. Insert bolts so the heads sit flush. Hold the nuts with a 6 mm hex and snug by hand.
Step 5: Torque Evenly
Using a torque wrench, tighten to 8 Nm in a star pattern. Do not over-tighten.
Step 6: Test and Recheck
Confirm each bolt is at 8 Nm. After your first ride, recheck torque.
Make the upgrade and enjoy a quieter, cleaner, easier-to-service setup.
