Chumba Yaupon Steel: Featuring Wheels Manufacturing's Colorado Copper Components
We’re beyond excited to drop the details on our latest collab with Chumba Handmade Bicycles. We joined forces to give their Yaupon Steel—a mountain bike that’s as versatile as it is rugged—a serious upgrade with our Colorado Copper components. The result? A bike that not only performs like a dream but looks like it’s ready to take on the world, one epic ride at a time. We showcased this build at the MADE Bike Show 2024.
The Yaupon Steel
Chumba’s Yaupon Steel is the Swiss Army knife of all-terrain bikes. Whether you’re ripping singletrack or packing for a multi-day adventure, this bike has you covered. It’s got a geometry that’s dialed in for everything from dirt to mountain bars, ensuring you stay comfortable and in control, no matter the terrain.
Fork Travel: Optimized for 120mm but just as happy with a rigid fork.
Head Tube Angle: 68°—a perfect balance for crushing technical trails and cruising on long hauls.
Wheelbase: Stable and nimble, designed to help you pick your line and navigate those tight spots.
Tubing: Built from Chumba Oversized Select Double Butted Tubing—this stuff is no joke. It’s durable, compliant, and ready for anything you throw at it.
Our Colorado Copper Components Bring the Heat
To make this bike truly stand out, we added our Colorado Copper components that not only match the Yaupon Steel’s rugged vibe but also bring some serious style to the table:
SOLO-SPLINE Single Speed Conversion Kit: Built for Micro-Spline hubs, this kit in our Colorado Copper finish is all about keeping things simple, efficient, and bombproof.
Pro Headset Spacers and Top Cap: A small touch that makes a big difference—clean, sleek, and totally dialed.
Thru Axles and Water Bottle Cage Bolts: Because details matter, and these copper accents pull the whole build together.
30mm BSA Bottom Bracket: Smooth, durable, and ready to power you through the toughest rides.
Chainring Bolts: Another detail in Colorado Copper, adding to the bike's cohesive look and performance.
And to take it over the top, Chumba custom powder-coated the Yaupon Steel frame to match our Colorado Copper theme, making this bike not just a trail machine but a head-turner.
