BB30The BB30 bottom bracket system uses a 68mm (road) or 73mm (mtb) wide shell and a 30mm diameter crank spindle. The frame's bottom bracket shell itself is not threaded; instead the bearings press directly into the frame. BB30 frame shell inner diameter is 42mm, has two bearing retaining clips and two SB-6806 bearings pressed directly in the shell. The BB30 system uses thin spacers and/or a wave washer between the bearings and the crank arms to take up any slack and micro-adjust the chainline of the crank. Wheels Mfg BB30 adapters are available for use with the following 24mm spindle diameter crankset systems:

PressFit 30 (PF30)PressFit 30 (PF30) is a SRAM-developed version of the BB30 system where the right and left bearings are housed in plastic cups, which are in turn pressed into the frame. The frame's bottom bracket shell itself is not threaded, and has an inner diameter of 46mm. The PressFit 30 system uses thin spacers and/or a wave washer between the bearings and the crank arms to take up any slack and micro-adjust the chainline of the crank. Wheels Mfg PressFit 30 adapters are available for use with the following 24mm spindle diameter crankset systems:

BBRight™BBRight™ is a bottom bracket standard developed by Cervelo that uses SRAM’s Pressfit30 bottom bracket standard system where the bearings are housed in press-in plastic cups, which are in turn pressed into the frame. SRAM supports the BBright™ with their PressFit30-79 bottom bracket. In an emergency, SRAM’s 68mm wide PressFit 30 bottom bracket can also work directly in the 79mm wide BBright™ frames, but the environmental seal on the shorter inner sleeve doesn’t engage. Frames using the BBRight™ system have 79mm shell widths, with the left side (non-drive side) bearing moved out by 11mm to allow for wider frame tubes. Wheels Mfg makes adapters to allow cranksets with 24mm spindle diameters to work in frames utilizing the BBRight™ system. More information on BBRight™ can be found at bbright.net. Wheels Mfg BBRight™ adapters are available for use with the following 24mm spindle diameter crankset systems:

BB386EVOThe BB386EVO was developed by FSA, and simply modifies the BB30 design to a wider width, and incorporates a press fit bearing cup, rather than the direct fit bearing of the BB30 system. More information about the BB386EVO system can be found at the FSA Website.

Specialized OSBB
Specialized carbon frames are offered with several different bottom bracket configurations.
We recommend using a SRAM press fit bottom bracket instead of the standard Specialized BB to ensure correct chainline. Note: Specialized frames with carbon bottom brackets have 61mm wide shells. To use a Shimano, FSA, SRAM or Campagnolo crank on these frames, the BB cups must be spaced to 68mm width. (Use the Wheels Mfg. PF3.5-SPC spacer kit. In some cases it might also be necessary to use one or more of the BB30-SPC spacers to adjust the chainline) Installation |
