BB30

The BB30 bottom bracket system uses a 68mm (road) or 73mm (mtb) wide shell and a 30mm diameter crank spindle. The frame's bottom bracket shell itself is not threaded; instead the bearings press directly into the frame. BB30 frame shell inner diameter is 42mm, has two bearing retaining clips and two SB-6806 bearings pressed directly in the shell.

Wheels Mfg BB30 adapters are available for use with the following cranksets:

  • Shimano HollowTech II and Rotor, Race Face and FSA cranksets with 24mm crank spindle
  • SRAM/Truvative GXP cranksets (24/22 mm crank spindle)
  • Campagnolo Ultra-Torque cranksets (25mm crank spindle)

PressFit 30 (PF30)

Press Fit 30 (PF30) is a SRAM-developed version of the BB30 system where the right and left bearings are housed in plastic cups, which are in turn pressed into the frame. The frame's bottom bracket shell itself is not threaded, and has an inner diameter of 46mm.

There are currently a few PF30 bottom brackets on the market: SRAM and FSA. Wheels Mfg makes separate adapters for each of these PF30 bottom brackets:

  • Shimano HollowTech II cranksets
  • SRAM/Truvative GXP cranksets
  • Campagnolo Ultra-Torque cranksets

BBRight™

BBRight™ is a bottom bracket standard developed by Cervelo that uses SRAM’s Pressfit30 bottom bracket standard system where the bearings are housed in press-in plastic cups, which are in turn pressed into the frame. SRAM supports the BBright™ with their PressFit30-79 bottom bracket. In an emergency, SRAM’s 68mm wide Pressfit30 bottom bracket can also work directly in the 79mm wide BBright™ frames, but the environmental seal on the shorter inner sleeve doesn’t engage. Frames using the BBRight™ system have 79mm shell widths, with the left side (non-drive side) bearing moved out by 11mm to allow for wider frame tubes.  More information on BBRight™ can be found at bbright.net.

Wheels Mfg BBRightadapters are available for use with the following cranksets:

  • Shimano HollowTech II Cranks
  • SRAM/Truvative GXP Cranks

               Compatible with 2011-2012 Cervelo models R3, R3 Team, S5, S5 Team, S5 VWD, and R5 VWD

(not compatible with R5ca direct-fit bb)

BB386EVO

The BB386EVO was developed by FSA, and simply modifies the BB30 design to a wider width, and incorporates a press fit bearing cup, rather than the direct fit bearing of the BB30 system. Additional information about the BB386EVO system can be found at the FSA Website.

Integrated Bottom Bracket - BB86 and BB90

The integrated bottom bracket standard uses a 24mm spindle with press-in bearings. Basically, the bottom bracket bearings from an external cup system are pressed directly into the frame, eliminating the cups and threads. This system can use cranks designed for external, threaded bearing cups. Variations on this system were developed independently at Scott, Trek and others. There is not a common name beyond "integrated bottom bracket" but the overall shell width is typically 86mm or 90mm wide so the terms BB86 and BB90 have been popularized.

There is no need to use adapters for BB86 and BB90 frames.

Use Wheels Mfg spacer kit BB30-SPC to adjust any slack in the BB86 and BB90 system.
