Our rear hubs have been engineered to provide maximum lateral strength and stiffness of the built wheel, and to minimize bearing drag. This allows for the wheels to be built with fewer spokes, further reducing overall drag.
The rear hub right flange is placed as far from the hub center (CR) as possible while still allowing for cassette to dropout clearance and spoke to derailleur clearance. This allows the left flange to be positioned further away from the right flange than most other hubs, which creates an extremely wide "base" for the wheel, without creating poor non-drive spoke tension. This dramatically increases the strength and stiffness of the built wheel, and maintains a good tension balance. In addition, the large drive side flange transfers drive load more efficiently for a "snappier" feel and reduced stress on the spokes.
The left bearing is placed as close to the dropout as possible. While the drive side of the hub shell extends through the cassette body and the drive-side bearing cup is connected directly to the hub shell. Most conventional designs position the drive-side axle support bearing 45-60 mm away from the dropout. This unsupported axle span between the bearing and dropout allows for more lateral movement of the rim due to side loads and increases loaded bearing drag as the axle flex forces the inner race of the bearings to become misaligned with the outer race. The unique design of our hub eliminates this problem as the outer axle bearing is connected directly to the hub shell and is positioned only 11mm from the dropout (compared to 45-60 mm). This creates a stiffer hub structure without adding unnecessary weight and reduces loaded bearing drag due to misalignment of the inner and outer races of the bearings resulting from axle flex. In addition, pedaling load drag is further reduced because only the 2 hub shell bearings are rotating. Conventional designs require that all 4 bearings (2 hub shell and 2 cassette body) are rotating.
Our cassette body is machined from 7075 aluminum, with 3 oversized pawls (the round end is larger in diameter than standard) that engage simultaneously in a 36 point driver.
Hubs feature our threaded axle assembly which makes it easy to service the hub. Proper bearing adjustment is achieved with a "spacer lock" system. Each hub is adjusted at our factory so that the adjusting cap tightens against the axle. This makes it impossible to over tighten the bearings, which is the primary cause of bearing drag, wear and premature failure. This also allows the end cap to become a rigid extension of the axle, which improves overall axle stiffness.

Our hubs ship standard with Enduro ABEC-5 bearings.
High precision balls are within 5/1,000,000″ round, twice as round as the industry standard, at its highest level. Vacuum de-gassed process for the purest chromium alloy steel, hardened to R-62, extremely tough and very durable. Polished to a mirror finish for ABEC-5 precision and noiseless movement. Nylon with graphite retainers are virtually friction-less while providing constant lubrication.
The bearing seals are dual lip, groove type seals rather than standard 2RS types that other manufacturers use; one lip to keep the dirt out and the other to keep the 90% grease fill inside. Bearings are filled both sides with Mobilgrease XHP 222 mineral oil based grease for the best protection and long lasting set up. Another external seal with dual lips on both sides and made from the best Silicone material guards from water and dirt penetration.
